This park is 15 km from the Andasibe (former Périnet) Special Reserve, 140 km east of Antananarivo, along the road that links the capital with Toamasina. The highest point reaches 1306 m. altitude.

In the rainforest live 12 species of lemurs, among which there are the Indri Indri, the Propithecus Diadema and the Varecia Variegata.

In the surroundings of the Reserve you can see the graphite mines, in the midst of luxuriant forest.

The main ethnic group is the Betsimisaraka.
